A set of four placemats pieced from triangles of patterned fabrics. There's interfacing inside, so they hold their shape.

I wanted original placemats that would match the tiles in our kitchen. It was also my very first bigger project on a new sewing machine. Instead of classic patchwork I went for something more geometric and modern: triangles of patterned fabrics that echo the pattern of the tiles. They're still in use today.
It was my first patchwork, so I got to try the technique of piecing small bits of fabric into one surface.
