Striped pillows under the Christmas tree

Folk Christmas pillows

Covers pieced from stripes of red, white and beige cotton canvas. A decorative stitch runs over the seams between the stripes and looks like folk embroidery. The zip is tucked away on the side, so you can't see it from the front.

Why I made it

The pillows were a Christmas present for someone in Slovácko, the folk region of South Moravia, and that is where the idea came from. I paired clean, simple stripes with a subtle ornament that only hints at folk motifs.

What I learned

It was one of my first projects on my then brand-new Brother Innov-is 30, so I got to try out several of its decorative stitches on something real.

Seams covered with a decorative stitch
Two pillows in stripes of red, white and beige canvas
